LHP is consistently ranked on the list of the nation’s top 50 affordable housing owners by Affordable Housing Finance magazine and the LHP team is committed to maintaining the highest levels of quality in its development and management activities. LHP has developed more than 13,750 apartment units at 105 properties in 13 states and completed more than $1.2 billion in development activity creating safe, secure housing communities.

Our History

Our company was rebranded as LHP Capital, LLC in 2015 after operating for a number of years as Lawler Wood Housing, LLC. Phil Lawson, the company’s founder and current Chairman, previously served as CFO of Lawler Wood, one of Knoxville’s most successful development firms founded by Rodney Lawler and the late Pat Wood. Lawler Wood was a pioneer in HUD’s Section 8 program. When the federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program was introduced, Lawson created a new business model for Lawler Wood to improve and develop more affordable housing. That Lawler Wood business segment eventually became Lawler Wood Housing and, subsequently, LHP Capital. The company continues to actively pursue development opportunities in affordable housing as well as other areas of commercial real estate.
